Big Mike's Sports Rub Breaks Through!

Congratulations to Big Mike's Sports Rub, SD Hoops 2011-2012 Champions!

In his second trip to the finals in two years, coach Rob Simmons used a balanced attack with Tee Price and Eric Reissner sharing the scoring load, with critical role players, Marcus Lenihan and Ben Johnson on the boards, and Ricardo Ramirez and Junior Buendia bringing defensive intensity throughout. Mick Rocklin, as always provided a steady-ing hand in limited minutes during Big Mike's topping achievement of an undefeated season and Championship.

In an exciting Championship game, Baja Betty's, a wild-card throughout the season, continued their strong late play, and held Big Mike's to nearly a season low 44 points. Leading by four at the half, Baja Betty's extended the lead to 8 points before the defensive tenacity of Big Mike's leveraged a few Baja miscues to close the gap and take the lead.

Competitive until the end, Baja Betty's closed the game to within 5 points with minute remaining before Big Mike's was able to run out the clock and cap their undefeated season. Congratulations to both teams for an exciting Final.

In the 3rd Place game, an athletic Loft team was able to overcome Bulls & Bears, playing without top rebounder Chad Hermandorfer (out with ACL).
